(This topic will not apear in the Speach / Powerpoint presentation)
One of the most important aspects when investing in the sharemarket is research.
If you decide to become a serious investor on the stockmarket, it will be important for you to keep up with what is happening in the business world. In society, share prices are greatly affected by the current news events. A good way to stay in touch is to read a newspaper or business magazine regularly.
When you start researching the companies you wish to invest in, the best way to handle this is to go to a stockbroker who is close to the company you are researching, and obtain a research report, or talk to the analyst who visited the company.
When researching, it is important to be able to tell the difference between research and marketing. Marketing is information that is aimed at convincing you to invest in a particular company, while research information adds to your knowledge of investing, finance, the sharemarket, industry sectors, individual companies, and business managers.
Research information is not aimed at changing your opinion,or convincing you to buy shares, it is simply information to help you out.
It is very important to have access to sources such as:
Newpapers
Magazines
Company Contact
Sharebroker Reports
Company Releases
Industry and Government Publications
Investment Newsletters
Stock Exchange Investor's Centre
Computers (www.asx.com.au has a great site for checking on sharemarket prices)
